Why choose DEHTLET ?

The panel shows the water and electricity consumption by an eco-toilet at a scenic spot   in Beijing. Consuming 81.5445 tons of water for 54,363 uses, average of 1.5 litres water consumed for flushing. We can fill up a short course swimming pool in a year!

The amount for water usage in sewage treatment facilities is not take into the account. Assuming each DEHTLET DTC model serves 30 persons per day, we can save more than 300 litres water for flushing in one single day!

Transport of Toilets & Sewage

Trucking thousands, sometimes millions of litres of liquid waste from one site to the nearest treatment plant or sewer line access point will add significantly to overall transport emissions.

DEHTLET system only needs regular cleaning once a week or even longer. Mini van is used instead of a heavy loading suction truck.

At the conservation area,  our
service team can simply use the
bike or on foot with a backpack to

Apart from the waste, of course the existing portable toilets must be moved to the site further adding to the emissions impact.

The chemicals contained in standard portable toilets cannot completely disinfect human waste and those are highly toxic to humans and the natural systems. The waste can only be disposed to the sewage treatment plant which is a burden to the environment.

DEHTLET use no chemicals which means dry waste & urine can be collected and reused as fertilizer for gardening and planting.

Take Hong Kong as an example:

  • Hong Kong as an international city, the sewerage network is currently serving only 93% of the population. The local authority may preferably allocate sanitation facilities at the foot of the mountains or choose chemical toilets which increase the burden of the existing sewage treatment plants. In fact, there are not enough sanitation facilities for hilltop, hiking trails and remote areas.

Every year, Hong Kong people generated about one  billion m3 of sewage. About 17% of the total sewage generated receives secondary biological treatment and it consumes about 90 million kWh of electricity a year for achieving the required higher quality effluent standard.

DEHTLET system does not require water for flushing, and thus, reduce water consumption and the system reduces the quantity and strength of wastewater to be disposed of onsite. It would definitely lower the operating cost for treatment.
